How to Keep Your Cell Phone Dry
I admit it, I dropped my cell phone in the washing machine. Most warranties don't cover getting the phone wet! I go mountain biking and generally spend a lot of time outdoors so I got a Motorola Rugby which is made to military specs, supposed to be able to take a beating and even stand a bit of water. It is several years old and has survived quite well.
If you have a fancy smart phone you may want to buy a waterproof cell phone case. My mountain biking buddy uses a ziplock bag which does do a decent job of keeping the water off when we get rained on but is no help in case of impact.
If you want a rugged and waterproof container, check out the OtterBox. cell phone cases. They make models for specific phones such as the iPod and Blackberry. They also have larger, universal OtterBoxes that you can use to protect your gps, phone, digital camera or even just to put your keys in when you go to the beach.
