iPod Mini Clickwheel - How the heck do you work this thing?

I bought an ipod so I could download pod casts and audio books to listen to at work. I haven't actually put any music on it yet. You see iPods are not just for kids. Old folks like them too, but how the heck do you work the thing?

I get interrupted at work and turn it off and when I turn it back on the podcast has started over and I have to listen to it from the beginning. I tried pushing those little arrow buttons, they look like fast forward buttons but nothing happens. I started getting really angry about the third time I was interrupted. It really gets old having to start over from the beginning of the pod cast. After I downloaded a book I decided I really had to learn how to fast forward this stupid iPod. Can you imagine how long it would take to listen to an audio book when you have to keep starting over?

Apple computers are supposed to be so easy, why does an iPod have to be so difficult? Anyway if you want to fast forward your iPod don't touch those little arrow things that look like a fast forward button. Instead push the button in the middle and hold it in for a few seconds. When you release it you should see a little dot on the screen where you usually see the volume control. Now stroke your iPod and the dot will move forward or backward. This is how you fast forward or reverse a silly iPod. The actual fast forward button on the right of the click wheel will let you skip through different songs or podcasts.

One of my more recent discoveries is that if I unplug my headphones the podcast will automatically pause. This is the quick and easy thing to do when someone starts talking to you.

Download iPodder Lemon so you can download and listen to podcasts. Free versions available for WIndows, Mac and Linux.
